    We Promise:

bullet

To keep open space a top priority – we recognize the need to protect Portsmouth’s landscape and we have preserved over 550 acres of open space in the past two years.

bullet

To support quality schools - All Portsmouth schools are “High Performing” and we must protect this investment for our future.

bullet

Fight for Portsmouth’s fair share of State Aid – we need a unified voice to be heard at the State House.

bullet

Provide tax relief – We enacted a tax deferment ordinance, increased tax exemptions and we will continue to look for new ways to provide relief to those in need.

bullet

Propose a charter amendment – let all the people decide so that we never have to go through another divisive tent meeting.

We have been out in the community, listening to your concerns and we have attended all the candidate forums to help you get to know us. Although our opponents have limited themselves to negative attack ads and spinning their version of past events, this election is about more than sound bites and slogans. It is about our promising future.

We believe in a positive outlook on Portsmouth’s future.

Portsmouth will face many challenges over the next two years and many important decisions will be made. The issues cannot be resolved by slogans and finger pointing. It will take conscientious effort, honest dialogue and cooperation on the part of all residents to guide Portsmouth to a brighter future. We are prepared for those challenges and we have faith that it can be done. The Portsmouth we know is the town that refused to let negativity stand in the way of building the new gym. The Portsmouth we love is the community that rallied to help the Escobar family rebuild their barn. The people of Portsmouth have proven time and time again they will come together, share responsibilities, and work cooperatively to make Portsmouth a better place for ALL residents. We can do it! The 2006 Democratic candidates are experienced public officials and energetic newcomers who are eager to work together to provide Portsmouth residents with the responsible and effective government you deserve.

We ask for your support.
